Ulzzang and Gyaru Looks

[Photo heavy!] Hiya folks, so I'm going to be showing you two different looks inspired by two different Asian styles :) Judging by the title, you'd already know which styles - ulzzang and gyaru. I adore these styles very much and for my looks I was actually inspired by some well-known girls who follow these trends. Although I do no follow those styles on a daily basis, I appreciate the effort put into doing hair, makeup etc. to achieve these looks. 'Ulzzang' is a Korean style meaning 'best face' and 'gyaru' is a Japanese trend of being a 'trendy girl' where you can fit into many different categories. Correct me if I'm wrong, I did a little search on Google so I'm not 100% sure :/

I'm going to start off with an image I found online of a comparison between ulzzang and gyaru just for everyone to know the basics of them both:

So now that we're all on the same page, it's time for me to reveal my first look!

Ulzzang-inspired look using Geo Angel Grey lenses (sponsored by iCandyStyle Lens)

And my inspiration for this look was from...

Qri

When Qri from T-ara tweeted this picture, I just had to get myself a pair of Geo Angel Grey lenses! I know I mention her a lot on my blog (haha, do a search for her under ulzzang and there can be a picture of me to be found xD) but she is one of the prettiest ulzzangs *-* I think on her profile it says that she's a former ulzzang but I reckon she's still an ulzzang even after debuting as a singer :) I love how she's always wearing circle lenses in her pictures, performances and appearances.

Other K-pop girls who look very ulzzang are the rest of the T-ara girls and girls from the group Rainbow.

I didn't have bottom lashes like Qri's so I err, improvised with what I had...

... which I know, didn't turn out so great... so I took them off

If you're interested in purchasing Geo Angel Grey lenses, here's a mini review

[GEO] CM-835

Series: Angel
Colour: Grey
DIA: 14.00mm
B.C: 8.60mm
Water Content: 38%
Brand: GEO

Life Span: 1 year disposable

I think this time last year I was never looking for an enlargement but instead I just wanted a colour change. Times have changed - I don't mind enlargement! I've been curious about the Angel series lenses for quite some time and I really want to collect the whole series haha.

They blend well in natural lighting and don't look too freaky in flash lighting. I reckon with the Angel series lenses, you either love or hate the colour/design as some don't like how they don't show up that well on dark eyes. I actually don't mind since I prefer natural-looking lenses over dramatic ones.

Since these lenses have a thick black limbal ring, they give plenty of enlargement for 14mm lenses. To have some more enlargment, you could opt for the 14.8mm Angel Grey lenses. These lenses were very comfortable to wear and I had no problems with them at all :)

Now back to the camwhoring~ I used my iPod Touch to take the rest of my ulzzang-inspired pictures as my digital camera didn't give the look any justice. I took quite a few pictures but I looked more like myself than ulzzang (ulzzang is a fairly natural look but to successfully pull it off, you have to look more than natural... better than natural).

I used an photo app called 'Pudding' which gives your pictures different effects. It's a Korean app so I'm guessing ulzzangs would use this for their selcas =]

I don't need BB cream to make my skin milky white, just use the Pudding app!

Ulzzangs don't normally smile but I can't help but smile...

 Rilakkuma ftw!
Now onto a look that has been anticipated since I showed a preview/half a face picture of my first attempt of this look.... gyaru!

Gyaru-inspired look using Geo Angel Green lenses (sponsored by iCandyStyle Lens)

The inspiration for this look was inspired by the famous...

 Tsubasa Masuwaka!

Inspired by her picture for the Dolly Wink No. 4 lashes which I have

In her look, Tsubasa is wearing baby pink blush and pink nude lipgloss. My brows and hair colour do not match hers so I kept them all natural. I filled in my brows, that's about it. Maybe I should have arched them, maybe next time.

Wearing two pairs of of the No. 4 lashes here, one on top of the other

Wearing half bottom lashes since my top lashes are half lashes too
I'm also wearing double eyelid tape to raise my crease

Since I was lazy with styling my hair (by the way, gals should never be lazy with their styling!) I put on my clip-in wavy black extensions to test it out but eh, it looks bad against my dyed, straight hair. I took them out.

Wearing these cute nails that I got from Amanda  using temporary adhesive
Totally suits the gyaru style!

My outfit - pretty plain, mehhhh

I recently bought this white lace top and I love the sleeves! I know gals love their lace hehe

I think I've seen this pose before on a gal. Well I know for sure that I've seen it used by CindyTang

Now to review the lenses for those who may be interested in purchasing them

[GEO] CM-833

Series: Angel
Colour: Green
DIA: 14.00mm
B.C: 8.60mm
Water Content: 38%
Brand: GEO
Life Span: 1 year disposable

They make my droopy eyes (when wearing eyelid tape) look better

I like how the green does show up in natural lighting despite it being rather dark. I don't mind it not looking too vibrant on my eyes, as long as they blend in alright without making me look like a freak then I'm cool with it.

I barely took any pictures without the flash on because well, my nose contouring wouldn't have been noticeable and I think flash makes my lenses stand out more and hence make me look more dolly. Flash also does wonders to your skin complexion and makes pictures clearer. I don't have the most steady hands and you can tell with the natural lighting shot of my eyes. Again I apologise for the blur, that was the best shot I had unfortunately.

These lenses give the same amount of enlargement as the Angel Greys unless you're one to believe that darker lenses make your eyes pop. I can see how that can be true with black lenses, they can sometimes make people look posessed lol. Anyway, these lenses wouldn't give a very natural look as the green is a deep green colour and no one has eyes that colour haha, but in natural lighting it would blend with dark eyes and so it could come across as 'natural'. Same limbal ring to give an enlarging effect.

I found these lenses to be really comfortable and at times I would 'forget' for a second that I had my lenses in. They don't slide around in my eyes and I didn't experience any problems with them. I'd recommend them for a dolly look, as well as the Angel Greys. If Tsuabasa Masuwaka wore them, that must mean that these lenses are gal-approved, right?!

If you want even more of an enlargement then you could try the same Angel Green lenses in 14.8mm

I took wayyyy more pictures on my iPod Touch of my gyaru look however I will definitely not be uploading all of them xD Just a few that I can make comments on~ I didn't use any special app (because I don't know any for gyaru-style) and I didn't want to use Pudding again for the same effect as ulzzang. If you know any good apps for gyaru pictures, please let me know!

My best impression of Tsubasa's smile on the Dolly Wink No. 4 lashes package xD

She's known for the duck-face/pout. Have you seen her Milky Bunny/Bunny Days PV?

After I cry my eyelids look like this, true fact.

Her smile is contagious, I'm doing it again

Collarbones that stick out, yes or no?

Back to looking like my usual, plain self with no makeup. What a difference.
Recently bought these glasses and I wish I had bought them earlier to incorporate into my looks.
My hair is shorter now! It's just above my chest and my hairdresser took off around 15cm of my hair. Yes it's healthier now and less messy/tangly but I loved having long hair *sniffs*

That's it for this rather photo-heavy post! Thanks for reading, it means a lot to me :D I'd love your feedback on how I went with my looks. The ulzzang one took less time to do than my gyaru one but that doesn't mean that one is better than the other. I really do appreciate these styles and even though I am such a noob, I enjoyed giving them a go - it was fun! In the future I hope to put in some more effort with more drastic changes such as better contouring, shaping the brows and wearing wigs etc.

Until next time, take care! ^.^

Review: Geo Berry Holic Lenses

Hi guys! I haven't been able to update in the last few days because I've actually been pretty busy (surprisingly). I said in a couple of posts back that I would have more time to blog now that it's my holidays but that doesn't seemed to be the case :/ I knew that I'd have things to do here and there, especially because my relatives from Sydney were visiting and staying in my city for a week. It turns out that ever since they've arrived, my aunties have planned to go out and about with them, except for today (hence I am finally able to blog now without feeling super tired!) It's been really enjoyable and I'm not complaining :] Just wanted to let you guys know what's been happening in my life.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter because I sure did ^.^ What did I get up to? Well my relatives and I went for an hour drive out of my city to go a little German town up in the hills called Hahndorf. We walked around the shops, had lunch and also went to a strawberry farm to pick strawberries :3 As we were picking we ate some too hehe. They were so sweet and we picked heaps of them! My cousin took a photo of all the strawberries but I didn't so I don't have any pictures :(

Speaking of pictures - I GOT A NEW CAMERA! Finally, I can take high quality pictures :D Buttttt one problem at the moment... I need a micro SD card T^T Until I can get one, then there will be high quality pictures on my blog
*pinky promise*

Enough about me and my busyness lately, time to blog properly and include photos~

This is a bit of an overdue post however I'm glad that I can catch up on it now that I am on uni break. A while ago (too embarrassed to say exactly how long ago) I was sent two pairs of lenses from my sponsors iCandy Style Lens and these are from a new series of lenses called 'Berry Holic' from the brand GEO:

I'm so glad that GEO have created a new style of lenses that look really similar to my favourite World Series 3-tone lenses that I have.

Now I hope to also be able to own the Berry Holic series and compare how similar or different they are to the first 3-tone series.

I decided to choose to colours which I had never tried before which were turquoise and golden honey to review.

[GEO] CM-957

Series: Berry Holic
Colour: Turquoise
Type: 3-tone
DIA: 14.00mm
B.C: 8.60mm
Water Content: 38%
Brand: GEO
Life Span: 1 year disposable

 One eye with no lens

 Natural indoor lighting

With flash photography

The colour turquoise itself is a blue-green so I'm no surprised that they turned out looking blue in natural lighting and more green in flash photography. If I wear these lenses out I could get people to guess what colour my contacts are and they would probably guess green or blue since they're more common contact colours. I'd be like 'nope, they're turquoise' :P I'm glad that there are turquoise lenses now, another natural-looking shade of coloured lenses.

I reckon these stand out better than the 3-tone blue and green lenses which is great but look a bit more unnatural than blue or green lenses. These lenses didn't blended as well with my dark eyes which made me look slightly alien-ish.

Colour: /5 - It's the perfect turquoise colour with a mix of blue and green
Pattern: ★/5 - 3-tone is great, 1-tone would be too unnatural
Comfort: /5 - Very comfortable but I've tried comfier lenses
Enlargement: /5 - The colour makes my eyes stand out heaps and it contributes to the slight enlarging effect which is what I like, thus my actual rating is ★/5
Overall rating: 18/20 - Love it!

Series: Berry Holic

Life Span: 1 year disposable

Again, these totally go by the name of 'golden honey' and they are so pretty! I love the colour of these lenses, they're a warm brown with a hint of khaki on the outer ring which I adore. The difference between these lenses compared to the turquoise ones is that the center rings aren't yellow/gold but instead they're a medium brown, therefore they blend better with my dark eyes. I'm very happy about there not being a yellow/gold ring in the center because these lenses would look less natural.

I also want to add that I'm pleased with how they turned out in flash photography because they don't look too creepy or vibrant. These lenses suit Asian eyes really well because to me they're not too light and not too dark.

Colour: ★/5 - I think these are now my favourite colour of lenses
Pattern: ★/5 - Absolutely love 3-tone lenses
Comfort: ★/5 - I found these very comfortable to wear
Enlargement: 0/5 - Could hardly tell that there was any enlargement, hence my rating is /5
Overall rating: 20/20 - Love it!

I seriously still can't get over how gorgeous these lenses are! Before I tried them on, I thought that they would look really light on my eyes but I am so glad that they didn't. I really hope to find/see/try more golden honey-like lenses.

And the last picture of me with the lenses on:

Have I tempted you into purchasing these lenses? You can ORDER THEM HERE

Thanks iCandy Style Lens for giving me the opportunity to try these lenses.

Thanks guys for reading such a long post from me! I hope I'll have time to post again in the next couple of days. It's sad knowing that I am now on my second week of holidays, a.k.a my last =[

And since you've stuck around for this long, I will show you a picture of my new camera which I have already posted on my Twitpic but just in case you missed it or don't follow me on Twitter (which you should lol!) here it is:

It's a Samsung PL121 and my dad bought it for me as a month-early 18th birthday present. My birthday won't be until May 22 but I really wanted a new camera before then so he ordered it online and it came as express shipping a day before the Easter public holidays =] I've been playing around with it heaps and I love it. It's got everything I need and want in a camera with bonus features such as the dual screen with one at the front so I can have better aim when I take front-on pictures ;P Also good for video recording so I know whether I am in the frame or not.

I took the picture with my iPod Touch and I don't think I should use it again for blog pictures because it is so grainy, especially at night time :S Also prepare to say bye-bye to grainy pictures on my blog haha x]

PS: I won't have a questjen for you guys in this post - I'll let you off this time xD

Review: Lashes from Bunny

Hi dearies, Happy late Valentine's Day ♥ I know for some it may have just been like every other day/Monday but I hope you all had a wonderful day *Hugs for everyone*.

I was going to make a blog post yesterday about my Valentine's Day but I decided not to because of my lack of pictures and I didn't want to post a recount of my day. I'll do a little summary at the end of this post with the pictures that I did take.

Stepping aside from Valentine's Day discussions and now onto a review on some false eyelashes that I received from Natsumi, or some may know her as Bunny :D (http://www.thebunnyonline.com). She is one of the sweetest bloggers out there and she's one very gorgeous and generous bunny ^_^ Thanks heaps love!

We were talking about fake eyelashes and I was asking her for some tips on how to apply bottom lashes (since she's so pro and I'm so noob at that!) and so she offered to send me some bottom lashes to try out because I didn't have any. I hadn't had much luck with applying top lashes to my bottom lashes so using the real thing would be a lot of help for me.

I received this small package from her last week and here's what it looked like:

Lol, she used 2 envelopes, this one was inside the first one x)

You can all read her sweet note

So I'm just going to do a quick review on each of the lashes that she sent me. I won't be giving them any ratings, just my 100% honest opinions!

You'll see me wearing a pink shirt in all of the pictures and you may have seen it before. It's my pyjama top haha, I just happened to be wearing that one again when I decided to review these lashes ;P

Dramatic lashes

Top lash = Flick out, volumising
Bottom lash = Straight
Geo Nudy Pink lenses purchased from Kiwiberry1

Side view
Pouting makes my cheek bones stick out heaps haha

I had a little bit of trouble applying these lashes on and so for one eye I cut the bottom lash band into 1 cm sections and stuck them on one by one. For the other eye, I stuck the whole band on without any trimming/cutting. Any of those ways are fine, whatever suits you or is more comfortable :)

Left eye = Sections of the band stuck together
Right eye = Whole band stuck on

The style reminds me of a pair of angel wings XD

In flash photography, they give off a glare mostly on the outer corners of the lashes.

What I really like about these lashes is that they're not too dramatic and they aren't that long. If they were longer then they'd look even more unnatural on me :/ The style is quite pretty and I like how there are short and longer lashes on the band. It creates a nice amount of volume without looking too crazy or outrageous. And also, these lashes are quite soft! The band isn't too uncomfortable and it's good that it can easily be bent to fit the curve of your lash line.

My bottom lashes don't stand out that much so they can be pretty natural-looking :)

Top lash: Full, lengthening
Bottom lash: Slight criss-cross
Geo Hurricane Grey lenses provided by iCandyStyleLens

With my bottom lashes for these slightly criss-cross styled ones, I decided to just cut them in half and glue them on separately next to each other. For me this technique worked so much better than my previous ways! It was quicker than sticking 1 cm sections and the lashes were better fitted when the whole band wasn't glued on at once.

Side view
This style of bottom lashes stand out more than the straight ones

So much glare in flash photography!

These are definitely more dramatic than the previous pair! A lot of volume and lengthening effects. Again these are soft and are bendable, but I wasn't able to get them to fit perfectly onto my lash line and they flicked up too much for my liking. The style doesn't suit me that much, especially because I have quite small eyelids and so it is way too obvious for everyone that I'm wearing fake lashes. As a personal preference, I'd rather have more subtle false lashes :) I'm not big on looking dramatic haha.

Tell me what you think of these. Are they too much or are they okay?

Subtle lashes

Top lashes: Straight, lengthening
Bottom lashes: Straight
Geo BC101 Brown lenses purchased from Shoppingnspreeau

Side view

I've actually reviewed these top lashes before because I have them hehe. At first I didn't really like them but now I think they're quite nice. This style matches nicely with my straight bottom lashes :D Basically the pattern for the top lashes goes thin, thick, thin and so on. The band is very flexible so it can easily fit your eye shape.

Very low amount of glare in flash photography
Sorry about the tilt of my camera lol... well I did have my eyes closed xP

Top lash: Criss-cross, lengthening
Bottom lash: Slightly criss-cross
Geo Nudy Brown purchased from Shoppingnspreeau

Very little amount of glare on these lashes in flash photography

Criss-cross styled lashes have been a favourite style of mine for a while and I love how cute they look. Once again my bottom lashes match with my top lashes. These lashes don't create a lot of volume however I like how they lengthen quite subtly. Such a pretty style =]

The lashes are hardly noticeable in this picture, which is good in a way. The lengthening looks quite natural and you can easily add volume with some mascara if you desire, or pile another pair on top :]

Here's a recap on the lashes that I reviewed:

In order of my favourite to least favourite:
1. Criss-cross
2. Straight thin-thick
3. Flicked-out and volumising
4. Long and thick (top pair)

Both of these pairs of bottom lashes are pretty in style and they don't have a crazy pattern/length which is really good, very perfect for me. Honestly, I don't know whether I'd actually wear bottom lashes out because I did find them to be a little uncomfortable at times and it did feel as though they were poking into my eye :( I felt much more comfortable without them on so I guess I might just use them for photos on my blog :P

Straight vs. Criss-cross... I prefer straight! But I reckon I'll be wearing the criss-cross ones more often in photos because of the way I cut them. I regret cutting one of my straight lash bands into 1cm increments, now it's going to take longer for me to apply them T_T Oh well lol.

Thanks once again Bunny for giving me the opportunity to try on some bottom lashes and also some dramatic lash styles for the first time ^-^ Love you lots sweetie!

That's it for the review, thank you for reading. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions about the lashes, I'm happy to answer them (:

Here's a little summary of my Valentine's Day yesterday.
If you're not interested in reading then you're free to leave haha!
But if you are interested, you're welcome to stick around for just a while longer :D

- I had work in the morning from 10am-1pm and straight after my shift I quickly changed out of my work uniform and into a floral dress. I took out my hair bun and wore my black ballet flats, which is part of my uniform. How convenient! Sorry I forgot to take a photo of my outfit :/

- From work I caught the bus into the city and met up with my boyfriend who was already there. We caught the bus to the place we wanted to go have lunch. We had lamb and hot chips with tomato and garlic - also known as 'AB' in my city/country. I don't know if this 'meal' was originated in my city but all I know that is it's not available outside of Australia. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of my meal, lol. I must have been too hungry xD

- Boyfriend had a box of macarons which he surprised me with when I met up with him. We had once each after we ate lunch, because we were too full to eat more. The taste and texture wasn't what I had expected but mm it was quite nice! I brought the rest of them home. This I did take a photo of haha, after I had lunch:

Top to bottom row: caramel, chocolate and strawberry :D

- After eating we exchanged gifts. Are you all curious to know what I got him and what I got from him? Firstly I'll tell you what I got him. I got him a Polo Double Black Ralph Lauren cologne (this was something that he wanted), a small mouse for his netbook (again, something he wanted) and a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Oh and I wrote him a letter =] He was happy about his gifts, and so was I. Here is what I got from him:

Taken when I came home from our Valentine's Day date

By no means am I intending to brag but since I listed what I got for my boyfriend, I will also list what I got from him. He got me the macarons, HDTV tuner for my laptop (so I can watch TV on there!), Daisy Marc Jacobs perfume, Roses Chocolates, Strawberry cloud lollies and a card with roses in the shape of a heart :3

I got no flowers for Valentine's Day, but I'm cool with that because they're pretty pricey and not worth it to me, especially because they will not be with my forever :( Instead I got some daisies that will stay with me for a very long time...

YAY ♥ Such a pretty bottle and scent

- We had a stroll around the city and saw lots of school kids. We didn't have any other plans for after lunch and so after spending quality time together, we went home and that was that. I was pretty tired when I got home because I had woken up really early that morning unintentionally and I lacked sleep :/

The actual day seemed to have ended nicely outside. As the night sky became darker, the sky had hints of pink in it and it shone through my room's curtains. The colour totally suits Valentine's Day, awww. Here's a picture that I took when I looked outside my window:

And through my curtains. Isn't it pretty??

Tell me about your Valentine's Day. What did you get and how did you celebrate it?
