Summer Look featuring EOS Fuzzy Petal Lenses

Hi all! Apologies for not posting in the past week and a bit - I had something in mind for last week but I didn't get around to writing it. I'll have it up next week though :)

Because for this week, I'll be doing a 2-in-1 review using a FOTD look (inspired by summer) I created recently. A pair of lenses and a pair of false eyelashes... both go so well together and saves me from taking separate pictures for review and blogging.

For the first time in like... ever, I managed to snap a few pictures outside in my backyard. Nothing too fancy but I just thought that it would be appropriate to be taking 'summer' shots outside while it's still summer over here.

In case you weren't aware, I now have pinkish/brownish/orange-ish ends

I used my Maybelline Hypershine Diamonds palette which I got last year here and for me the warm, fiery tones reminded me of summer. What I love about it is that it's great for both day and night - neutral yet vibrant colours!

The only flowers in my backyard right now...

Anyway, about the lenses that I am wearing, they are the EOS Fuzzy Petal Brown lenses from MukuCHU and I noticed that the pattern is quite similar to the GEO Angel Brown lenses. Though compared the the Angel Browns, these are much lighter and are more on the 'yellow' side.

With the black limbal ring and a diameter of 14.7mm, these lenses are perfect for that dolly look. However if you are aiming for a more exaggerated dolly look, lenses that are 15-16mm would be a better choice. I wouldn't say that these are natural-looking but for someone who is aiming to have doll-like eyes without creeping people out to the max then I would totally recommend these. They aren't too outrageous and dramatic.

At first I was having a bit of trouble with these lenses (stung and felt that they didn't 'fit' properly) but after changing the soaking solution and using eye drops, they were comfortable to wear and I had no issues with them afterwards.

Simple design yet pretty - love 'em!

The Soft Criss-Cross lashes complement these lenses very well as they are also quite fancy but not too out-there. They are from KKCenterHK:

Not only are the lashes soft - the band is too! This allows me to gently bend the band into shape to fit onto my upper lash line. I love the length of these and because the lashes aren't so dense, they're really lightweight and blend amazingly with my natural lashes. The good thing about these is that you can glue them on top of each other the add volume if necessary... though I would leave them as they are :)

EOS Adela Green Lenses

Hello! Time for a lens review :) Today I'll be reviewing the new range from EOS called Adela and the pair that I received from MukuCHU was the green pair. They're currently not in stock however they are available for pre-order if you're interested.

I've noticed that new lens styles and patterns have become more fancy and less 'natural-looking' which I totally don't mind because these days if I want to wear circle lenses, I wouldn't bother with a 'natural-looking' colour or pattern i.e. brown... something because I don't need to wear glasses or lenses (my vision is fine) and natural lenses don't make much difference to my eyes... to me anyway.

Also, most new style of lenses are plano only (perhaps they want to see how well they sell first and then introduce prescriptions?) which again is perfect for me but those who do need prescription I assume would need to wear glasses while wearing the lenses.

Anyway, enough rambling. Let's get onto the review!

I want to talk about the pattern first. Like wow, it looks cool! It looks quite subtle on my dark eyes but close up you can probably see how detailed the pattern is. The detail of the lines and also the mix of green shades - lighter towards the middle and darker around the outside.

I don't find them tooooo freaky... I like the dark spots (if my eyes were naturally blue/green, maybe those spots would be blue/green instead)

14.8mm... average diameter for these 'new style' lenses. I rarely see 14.00 or 14.5mm diameter ones these days (and yes they do still exist). They don't seem to be too enlarging but there is definite enlargement. It doesn't look like I'm staring into your soul, does it? I am glad that they don't have the black limbal ring around them or else it may seem too overwhelming with the intricate pattern and the obvious enlarging factor. Good design work, EOS.

An actual expiry date - is this something new? I think it is!

If you are a lens wearer, you would be aware that lenses have an expiry year. With circle lenses, they are to be disposed of within one year of opening and have a shelf life of 3 years. Normally with lens vials I see the year of manufacture and/or year of expiry and the month. I noticed that with the EOS Adela lens vials that I received, they have a printed expiry date with the day too. I don't know why I found this to be so fascinating haha... I guess it's because it's usually just food and beverages that have exact expiry dates. So now I know for this certain pair of lenses, they would expire on the 24th of July in 2015.

Last but not least - the colour! This deep green is gorgeous. I don't think it looks crazy at all over my dark eyes and it blends wonderfully. The lenses don't scream out at you... in fact I reckon it does the complete opposite. They give me an innocent, doe-eyed look :)

I would definitely recommend them. As always, I applaud EOS for having such thin and comfortable circle lenses - they're one of my favourite brands and their extensive range of designs is impressive.

Review: Daisy 3-Tone Brown Lenses

They're more like yellow than brown but colour-wise, they look very natural when worn because of my dark brown eyes. And I love all 3-tone lenses because that means that they blend in better for dark eyes instead of it being a pop of colour that may freak someone out. If that's what you want to do then these lenses won't be a good choice for that haha.

I took pictures on a day where I thought that the sun would show up but no, the sun didn't come out at all. Hopefully the pictures are still okay and clear enough.

They definitely enlarge the eye without having too much of a dramatic effect. No thick, black limbal ring or harsh outline in the centre where the pupil is. I had originally thought that the daisy pattern would be very obvious in both natural and flash lighting but nope, it's very subtle in daylight. Perhaps on lighter-coloured eyes, the pattern would show up a lot more but since circle lenses are manufactured in Asian countries, they are probably specially designed to be more suitable/wearable for Asian/dark eyes. That's just my guess.

The lenses make my eyes look very light brown

And under low-quality photo settings, the lenses look dark brown/black. Very natural!

So really, these lenses have varied effects depending on the lighting however they generally look natural on dark eyes. Don't let the diameter scare you too much - I too used to think that 14.8mm was HUGE but I got used to them and now I reckon the size isn't too big/dramatic. It really depends on the pattern and colour - I think diameter makes the least impact when it comes to appearance.

Though when it comes to comfort.... it usually comes down to the brand and diameter. Did you know that comfort does differ from brand to brand? I've worn circle lenses for 4 years (not constantly but 4 years ago was when I started wearing them) and I've tried many different brands but the two that I trust the most are GEO and EOS (and they're usually the two that I review the most) because they are the biggest manufacturers and GEO has an anti-fake system which is great reassurance. Anyway, I've personally discovered that EOS lenses are thinner but they're both just as comfortable. 

These are EOS lenses and they were very comfortable to wear for hours. Only experienced irritation when I accidentally wore one on the wrong way T_T I wouldn't wear large diameter lenses for long periods of time i.e. anymore than 6 hours as less oxygen reaches the eye compared to 14mm lenses. When I go out I would prefer to wear 14-14.5mm lenses just to be on the safe side. But if you do decide to wear 14.5+mm lenses, you must have eyedrops and don't exceed 6 hours of wear!

That's my snappy review on these lenses - apologies again for the lack of better-quality photos... I'm still going to blame the sun for not coming out :( I definitely tried to give you guys as many comparison pictures - low lighting, cloudy day, bright lighting, flash, low/high-quality camera. Hopefully the review was still interesting~

You can say good bye to that hair by the way.... today it got the chop. I asked the hairdresser to take off 10-15cm off and that was what she did! I have medium-length hair again and you can check out the picture that I took after my haircut and posted on Twitter. Or you can wait until I take blog pictures next time hehe.

GEO Lotus Violet Lenses

Hi all, I have a review of the Geo Lotus Violet circle lenses provided by MukuCHU. Just so you know, this is going to be a short and snappy one :)

MukuCHU sent me a pair of lenses by random to prevent biased views (and I personally think that it's better that way!) Anyway about these lenses.... they're from the Geo Xtra Flower series, there are 5 colours and they are 15.0mm in diameter. It's funny thinking back to when I first started wearing lenses and how I would be so concerned about the diameter, assuming that size plays a huge part in comfort. To me, all of the sizes from 14mm to 16mm feel the same on my eyes *shrugs* It's true that less oxygen can reach the eye when the diameter is larger however the best way to decrease the risk of potential damage is to wear larger diameter lenses for less periods of time i.e. maximum of a few hours in a day.


15mm lenses and larger are best worn with makeup because without it, it honestly looks creepy (well I reckon it makes me look possessed, especially darker lenses). So that was why I used top and bottom fake lashes to draw some of the attention away from my irises.

With flash

The lens design and colour show up much better under flash lighting. They're definitely not lenses to be worn if a natural look is desired! I find the pattern to be quite pretty - I wish my eyes had a crystal/sparkly effect *__* My natural eye colour is a really dark brown and so the only 'effect' that my eyes can have is... watery eyes haha. Oh and I should mention that having dark eyes make these lenses look less like stickers as they sort of blend in... especially under natural lighting.

Despite violet being an unnatural eye colour, I love this colour for lenses!

So, lenses from the GEO Lotus series are a great choice if you're looking for:

+ Enlargement with a considerably subtle black limbal ring

+ Sparkly/crystal effect

+ Colour change

+Comfort!

Yes, I found these lenses to be very comfortable to wear :) I had no issues whatsoever!

The pattern/design:

So as you can tell by the name, the design is like the appearance of ice in a coloured way. Not that I have seen coloured ice before... but you can sort of imagine it to be like the images above. There is a really thin limbal ring around the lenses so the lenses don't give that much of a doll-like effect however as the lenses are 14.8mm, they do still make the eyes appear bigger. Bigger in a more 'natural' way I suppose. Looking closely to the pattern I can see the two tones of green which is not only pretty but also more effective for blending in with my naturally dark eyes. I love how they give off this really sultry look.

The colour:

Yes I love green eyes and I don't think I've ever seen anyone with this shade of green for their eyes naturally... but I reckon this is the perfect green for lenses on dark eyes! Any lighter it would look unnatural for blending and any darker it would be hard to notice. I am so impressed with the blending... it doesn't make me look like a green-eyed alien. Though others may think otherwise, like people who are against wearing circle lenses 'cause they think they look creepy or something -_-

Comfort:

Those who have worn circle lenses or have read many reviews would already know that EOS lenses are usually thinner than other brands and thus tend to be more comfortable! These lenses were extremely comfortable despite its large diameter.

I wore some blue eyeshadow to complement the green lenses. Which reminds me - I haven't done a FOTD look or a tutorial in so long... maybe I should again?

I also noticed that these lenses looked sort of dark blue under yellow-ish lighting! Which makes sense because yellow and blue mixed together make green, and green and yellow mixed together make blue. I couldn't get it the way I wanted to on camera under yellow lighting so instead I captured pictures on my iPod which tends to make colours appear differently anyway (due to its low quality).

Is it just me or can you see the blueness to the green lenses?

Final words:

They are really gorgeous and I'd recommend them for people who want an enlargement but not a pair that makes them look creepy or too doll-like. The pattern is not at all crazy-looking so I reckon these are fine for day and night time wear. As I said before, I love how they look on dark eyes. I need to emphasise on the comfort of these because they seriously are one of the most comfortable lenses I have worn. I thought these would be a little difficult to put on because of the size but it wasn't a hassle at all - they fitted nicely like 14.0mm lenses.

Thanks for reading my review, I hope that I provided enough information for you. In my previous lens reviews, I used to give 5/5 ratings for enlargement and colour etc. but I felt that those views would be a little biased. I tried to make this review with as little bias as possible but the first and foremost thing you should know is that I was randomly sent a pair of lenses to review, meaning that I wasn't given choice to pick a favourite or one that I wanted for the sake of having it. I used to choose my pair/s from MukuCHU however I have now decided that I want to be less choosy and picky with the items that I am sent to review. I don't know but I just feel better about it being like that, that's all ^_^

A random questjen for you, not in relateion to the circle lenses but to the pictures of me (oh that makes me sound do vain hahaha). I'm just curious...

Have you worn top AND bottom false lashes?

For pictures or for special events/cosplay? Often? Rarely? Never?

 My answer: Only a few times! And yes, only for pictures

I haven't worn top and bottom lashes out... I just don't feel comfortable wearing both. Even when I wear top lashes out I feel like it can be a bit too much (I'm a very simplistic girl) and I still have troubles with applying bottom lashes so when I do it successfully I feel that it's an accomplishment lol. I like the ones I've worn in the above pictures, the style looks really natural. The band isn't heaps comfortable but if I only wear them for a short period of time then it would be fine.
