Review: Lashes from Bunny

Hi dearies, Happy late Valentine's Day ♥ I know for some it may have just been like every other day/Monday but I hope you all had a wonderful day *Hugs for everyone*.

I was going to make a blog post yesterday about my Valentine's Day but I decided not to because of my lack of pictures and I didn't want to post a recount of my day. I'll do a little summary at the end of this post with the pictures that I did take.

Stepping aside from Valentine's Day discussions and now onto a review on some false eyelashes that I received from Natsumi, or some may know her as Bunny :D (http://www.thebunnyonline.com). She is one of the sweetest bloggers out there and she's one very gorgeous and generous bunny ^_^ Thanks heaps love!

We were talking about fake eyelashes and I was asking her for some tips on how to apply bottom lashes (since she's so pro and I'm so noob at that!) and so she offered to send me some bottom lashes to try out because I didn't have any. I hadn't had much luck with applying top lashes to my bottom lashes so using the real thing would be a lot of help for me.

I received this small package from her last week and here's what it looked like:

Lol, she used 2 envelopes, this one was inside the first one x)

You can all read her sweet note

So I'm just going to do a quick review on each of the lashes that she sent me. I won't be giving them any ratings, just my 100% honest opinions!

You'll see me wearing a pink shirt in all of the pictures and you may have seen it before. It's my pyjama top haha, I just happened to be wearing that one again when I decided to review these lashes ;P

Dramatic lashes

Top lash = Flick out, volumising
Bottom lash = Straight

Pouting makes my cheek bones stick out heaps haha

I had a little bit of trouble applying these lashes on and so for one eye I cut the bottom lash band into 1 cm sections and stuck them on one by one. For the other eye, I stuck the whole band on without any trimming/cutting. Any of those ways are fine, whatever suits you or is more comfortable :)

Left eye = Sections of the band stuck together
Right eye = Whole band stuck on

The style reminds me of a pair of angel wings XD

In flash photography, they give off a glare mostly on the outer corners of the lashes.

What I really like about these lashes is that they're not too dramatic and they aren't that long. If they were longer then they'd look even more unnatural on me :/ The style is quite pretty and I like how there are short and longer lashes on the band. It creates a nice amount of volume without looking too crazy or outrageous. And also, these lashes are quite soft! The band isn't too uncomfortable and it's good that it can easily be bent to fit the curve of your lash line.

My bottom lashes don't stand out that much so they can be pretty natural-looking :)

Top lash: Full, lengthening
Bottom lash: Slight criss-cross
Geo Hurricane Grey lenses provided by iCandyStyleLens

With my bottom lashes for these slightly criss-cross styled ones, I decided to just cut them in half and glue them on separately next to each other. For me this technique worked so much better than my previous ways! It was quicker than sticking 1 cm sections and the lashes were better fitted when the whole band wasn't glued on at once.

This style of bottom lashes stand out more than the straight ones

So much glare in flash photography!

These are definitely more dramatic than the previous pair! A lot of volume and lengthening effects. Again these are soft and are bendable, but I wasn't able to get them to fit perfectly onto my lash line and they flicked up too much for my liking. The style doesn't suit me that much, especially because I have quite small eyelids and so it is way too obvious for everyone that I'm wearing fake lashes. As a personal preference, I'd rather have more subtle false lashes :) I'm not big on looking dramatic haha.

Tell me what you think of these. Are they too much or are they okay?

Subtle lashes

Top lashes: Straight, lengthening
Bottom lashes: Straight

Side view

I've actually reviewed these top lashes before because I have them hehe. At first I didn't really like them but now I think they're quite nice. This style matches nicely with my straight bottom lashes :D Basically the pattern for the top lashes goes thin, thick, thin and so on. The band is very flexible so it can easily fit your eye shape.

Very low amount of glare in flash photography
Sorry about the tilt of my camera lol... well I did have my eyes closed xP

Top lash: Criss-cross, lengthening
Bottom lash: Slightly criss-cross
Geo Nudy Brown purchased from Shoppingnspreeau

Very little amount of glare on these lashes in flash photography

Criss-cross styled lashes have been a favourite style of mine for a while and I love how cute they look. Once again my bottom lashes match with my top lashes. These lashes don't create a lot of volume however I like how they lengthen quite subtly. Such a pretty style =]

The lashes are hardly noticeable in this picture, which is good in a way. The lengthening looks quite natural and you can easily add volume with some mascara if you desire, or pile another pair on top :]

Here's a recap on the lashes that I reviewed:

In order of my favourite to least favourite:
1. Criss-cross
2. Straight thin-thick
3. Flicked-out and volumising
4. Long and thick (top pair)

Both of these pairs of bottom lashes are pretty in style and they don't have a crazy pattern/length which is really good, very perfect for me. Honestly, I don't know whether I'd actually wear bottom lashes out because I did find them to be a little uncomfortable at times and it did feel as though they were poking into my eye :( I felt much more comfortable without them on so I guess I might just use them for photos on my blog :P

Straight vs. Criss-cross... I prefer straight! But I reckon I'll be wearing the criss-cross ones more often in photos because of the way I cut them. I regret cutting one of my straight lash bands into 1cm increments, now it's going to take longer for me to apply them T_T Oh well lol.

Thanks once again Bunny for giving me the opportunity to try on some bottom lashes and also some dramatic lash styles for the first time ^-^ Love you lots sweetie!

That's it for the review, thank you for reading. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions about the lashes, I'm happy to answer them (:

Here's a little summary of my Valentine's Day yesterday.
If you're not interested in reading then you're free to leave haha!
But if you are interested, you're welcome to stick around for just a while longer :D

- I had work in the morning from 10am-1pm and straight after my shift I quickly changed out of my work uniform and into a floral dress. I took out my hair bun and wore my black ballet flats, which is part of my uniform. How convenient! Sorry I forgot to take a photo of my outfit :/

- From work I caught the bus into the city and met up with my boyfriend who was already there. We caught the bus to the place we wanted to go have lunch. We had lamb and hot chips with tomato and garlic - also known as 'AB' in my city/country. I don't know if this 'meal' was originated in my city but all I know that is it's not available outside of Australia. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of my meal, lol. I must have been too hungry xD

- Boyfriend had a box of macarons which he surprised me with when I met up with him. We had once each after we ate lunch, because we were too full to eat more. The taste and texture wasn't what I had expected but mm it was quite nice! I brought the rest of them home. This I did take a photo of haha, after I had lunch:

Top to bottom row: caramel, chocolate and strawberry :D

- After eating we exchanged gifts. Are you all curious to know what I got him and what I got from him? Firstly I'll tell you what I got him. I got him a Polo Double Black Ralph Lauren cologne (this was something that he wanted), a small mouse for his netbook (again, something he wanted) and a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Oh and I wrote him a letter =] He was happy about his gifts, and so was I. Here is what I got from him:

Taken when I came home from our Valentine's Day date

By no means am I intending to brag but since I listed what I got for my boyfriend, I will also list what I got from him. He got me the macarons, HDTV tuner for my laptop (so I can watch TV on there!), Daisy Marc Jacobs perfume, Roses Chocolates, Strawberry cloud lollies and a card with roses in the shape of a heart :3

I got no flowers for Valentine's Day, but I'm cool with that because they're pretty pricey and not worth it to me, especially because they will not be with my forever :( Instead I got some daisies that will stay with me for a very long time...

YAY ♥ Such a pretty bottle and scent

- We had a stroll around the city and saw lots of school kids. We didn't have any other plans for after lunch and so after spending quality time together, we went home and that was that. I was pretty tired when I got home because I had woken up really early that morning unintentionally and I lacked sleep :/

The actual day seemed to have ended nicely outside. As the night sky became darker, the sky had hints of pink in it and it shone through my room's curtains. The colour totally suits Valentine's Day, awww. Here's a picture that I took when I looked outside my window:

And through my curtains. Isn't it pretty??

Tell me about your Valentine's Day. What did you get and how did you celebrate it?

Park Bom 2010 MAMA Inspired Look

Hi guys, so this is my first ever 'inspired look' post. If you're not too sure what it means, basically I have taken the picture of a particular person and recreated their make-up with the items that I have. In no way do I believe that I look like this person, this is just my interpretation of their make-up and my own replica of it :)

I've chosen to replicate the make up of Korean pop singer Park Bom. Those who are familiar with K-pop would know that she is in the girl group 2NE1. 2NE1 recently attended an awards show called MAMA which stands for Mnet Asian Music Awards. Before watching the awards show streamed online (thanks to Allkpop) I was able to check out the red carpet pictures :)

The red carpet pictures which caught my eye first were 2Ne1's and if you're familiar with them, you'd know that they have very stylish outfits and eye make-up, which I think is so awesome :D

Luckily there was a close-up of Park Bom when she was on the red carpet:

FACE

• Bold black eyeliner

• Blue eyeshadow

Pink lips
• False lashes
• Grey lenses

HAIR AND OUTFIT
• Back to having black hair!
• Side fringe and high pony tail - one of her signature hair styles
• Black and white patterned dress
• Black belt
• Black pumps

2NE1
L-R: Minzy, Bom, Dara and CL
Congrats to the girls on winning 4 awards that night:
• Album of the Year - 'To Anyone'
• Artist of the Year
• Female Group Award
• Best Music Video - 'Can't Nobody'
And Bom for winning Best Digital Single - 'You and I'

[Credits to Allkpop for the images]

It was an amazing awards show to watch, I loved all of the performances and it was definitely worth staying up and watching the live stream :) I'm so glad that Australian time is just a few hours ahead of the time in Asian countries!

Anyway back on topic, Bom's eye make-up is definitely the boldest compared to the rest of the 2NE1 members. I also took screenshots when Bom did her acceptance speech for her award:

bom
These screenshots really helped me with recreating her look =)

At first I was surprised that she didn't accessorise on the night, I thought she'd actually be wearing a pair of earrings at least, or some jewellery! As well as trying to replicate her make-up, I also tried my best to replicate her outfit. I obviously wasn't very close with that because it's always hard to match the outfits of the 2NE1 girls haha - they can be quite 'out there' and wacky at times.

• Zebra-striped singlet - Free Fusion
• Black shorts - Miss Understood
• Silver belt - Katies
I had to make do with what I had :( No black belt or similar dress!

Under my lamp's bright light, the blue doesn't show up that vibrant
I toned down the eyeliner a lot, mainly because my double eyelids aren't as wide as Bom's so it wouldn't have looked as nice if I had thick black eyeliner

This is everything I used for the look
• Revlon ColorStay Velvet Creme Makeup
• Ecotools Foundation Brush
• Urban Decay Primer Potion
• PUPA 4Eyes Blue Eyeshadow Quad
• NYX Black Eyeliner
• Face of Australia Charcoal Liquid Eyeliner
• Rimmel Volume Express Mascara
• Sigma Blending Brush
• Eyeshadow Brush
• Australis Countoured Eyeshadow Brush
• QVS Eyelash Curler
• Duo Eyelash Glue in Clear/White
• Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight
• Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Pink Blush
• G&G BT02 Grey Lenses

It was hard for me to get the high ponytail that Bom has :( I don't know how she can have it put up so high, I tried but it kept pulling my hair and hurting too much -__-

The best I could do - a pretty messy ponytail

I noticed that Bom's eyelashes were thicker at the ends so I glued extra lashes on the ends of my falsies to make them thicker. They were the left-over bits from trimming the lashes:

These lashes are really shiny and soft. You can get them from Kiwiberry1

And now to lots more pictures of me, closer shots, with flash, different angles etc. :P

I used two lipsticks because my Pink Blush lipstick (Dupe of MAC Lady Gaga lipstick) is too much of a Barbie pink and Bom's lips weren't that pink :S I toned it down by using a nude lipstick on top

Without flash, the lenses look very dark and so does the rest of my make-up. Should I review these lenses? They're going to expire soon...

Hey where did my high ponytail go :( ? It was meant to be on the side... fail.

Better shot of the belt

My best 'Bom impression' of the first photo
The blue eyeshadow showed up really well on my webcam :) This is more of how it turned out, and more similar to Bom's eyeshadow colours
I flipped the photo to other way to match the way Bom parts her fringe hehe

It was a lot of fun recreating the look ^-^ I don't normally wear blue eyeshadows out so I really enjoyed playing around with the colours on my PUPA quad. Having the blue quad came in handy, and so did my grey lenses! These lenses are about to expire, but I just got myself a new pair of grey lenses similar to these :D

I think i might do more inspired looks on my blog in the future, what do you think :) ? I could take requests, show a tutorial... anything really =]

Packages That I Received This Week

Hello bloggies :)

So from my previous post as a 'YAY' of the week, I received 2 out of 5 of my packages which is not bad considering that shipping does tend to take its time, especially from overseas.

The first package I received was on Tuesday from MukuCHU and they sent me EOS (E-203) Adult Brown circle lenses. Not the new version of the EOS Adult Series. I think the older version looks better than the new one (just judging by pictures). I will go more into detail with it and post a review possibly sometime next week or next weekend. For now, here is a sneak peek:

♥ Free lens case with every pair :)
♥ Lenses are neatly wrapped in bubble wrap
♥ Instructions good for any first-time wearers
♥ Affordable priced lenses
♥ Fast shipping for Australian customers and worldwide!

This is why I need a new digital camera... My current one has no focus!

Stay tuned for my EOS E-203 Adult Brown Review :)

And as for my second package, I received it on Friday (yesterday) from Kiwiberry1 and they sent me a box of 10 falsies which I am currently giving away :) I'm going to do a small review on them so you guys will have a better idea of their packaging and how the design that you may be requesting to win looks like :D

♥ Padded bag and extra wrapping around the box
♥ Fast shipping worldwide

So they allowed me to choose from 2 of their designs from their range to try and I chose #8 (Simple with alternating lash lengths) and #9 (Simple with alternating lash thickness).

They're longer than I expected them to be!

The first pair I tried was #8

Yeah I'm not the best at applying falsies, hence only one closed-eye picture to be shown!
It looks like I need the Duo Dark-tone glue instead of the Clear/White one

Although the design overall is simple, it doesn't look that natural. The alternation of long and short lashes gives a bit of a dramatic effect and it would be obvious for people to see that someone is wearing falsies. I think I would like them more if all of the lashes were the same length and the longer ones shorter.

Verdict:
I do like them but they wouldn't be something for me to wear daily. They would be suitable for a special occasion or for a night out.

Rating: 4/5
-1 for naturalness (as they claim to be)

The second pair I tried was #9

Again, only one of the pair was applied better than the other. This one still isn't perfect though!

These are more dramatic than #8. The thicker width of the individual lashes looked different to the picture on the Kiwiberry1 website. They looked prettier on the website and they weren't as thick. I like having a different falsies style and these really do bring out my eyes.

Verdict:
I like these falsies but I'd only wear them at night. I think they are too much for daytime and will create large impact on my eyes if I only wear simple make-up and light eye shadows. Without eyeliner they would be too bold.

Rating: 3/5
-1 for naturalness (as they claim to be)
-1 for design (thick lashes parts are too thick for me, they look clumpy and they should be thinner)

Disclaimer:
These are my 100% honest reviews. I am not affiliated with Kiwiberry nor was not paid to do this review.

My box of lashes giveaway is still open until the 1st of October :) To enter, click here

I was hoping to receive a package this week of my order of my heels but they haven't been shipped out yet -__- I contacted them and they said that there will be delays as they have had so many orders. I was hoping that they would arrive either this week or next week but I really doubt that it'll even arrive in 2 weeks time! As you can imagine, I am quite unhappy and this was my first time purchasing from this company and purchasing heels so now I feel sort of discouraged to purchase from them again in the future. If the condition of the package sent is apalling ,then I'll definitely not want to purchase from them again, no matter how inexpensive their items may be. The shipping cost was quite overpriced but regardless of that I really wanted to purchase these heels. I'll just have to wait and see..

I was planning to wear them with my dress for my friend's 18th next Friday. That probably won't be happening so I'm going to have to wear a different pair of heels.

Speaking of my friend's 18th, I bought her a gift which I will give to her on the night of her party. If you really want to know what I got her, just highlight here -> Lush bath bomb and bubble bar and Christina Aguilera Perfume :)
I hope she likes them because I do :D Smell so nice hehe.

Today I went with my dad to purchase his new phone (LG Mini) and as I was walking in the shopping centre, a young Korean lady unexpectedly came up to me and gently grabbed my hand. I could tell that she was Korean because of her accent and I heard her talk to her friend who was also at the stall. I didn't even see her approach me! I was surprised and I wasn't sure what she was doing haha. But then I realised when I saw her holding a nail sticker sheet in one hand and tweezers in her other hand and stick a design on my thumb. She applied a coat of clear nail polish on top of it to keep the nail sticker in place.

She was from a little stall in the middle of the shopping centre with a table full of nail stickers, nail polishes and tweezers to sell. The phone shop that my dad wanted to go to was just a few metres away from where the young lady and her friend's stall was and after she stuck the nail sticker on, I smiled and walked away with my dad to the shop. Oh I felt so bad and I kept looking at the nail design on my thumb. It's pretty! And so I asked my dad for some money (since I had none on me!) to buy some nail sticker sheets :) They had a deal of $5 each or 3 for $10. My dad gave me $10 so I ended up using it all up ahaha.

It took me a while to decide on which 3 designs to purchase because they were all pretty! And when I came back to the stall the young lady smiled and said "oh you're back!" These are the three designs that I chose:

Can't wait to use them and show some NOTD ;D

There's still more I want to blog about here but I've pretty much tweeted about them (since it's so much easier to do that, and faster!) so if you'd like to be more informed about things that have been happened to me, feel free to follow me on Twitter.

Lots of Love,

xo Jennifer
