I'm back + Tag Q&A

Hiiiii *waves frantically* my exams are complete and my first year of uni is already over! Gosh I can't believe how fast this has gone by, I am so stoked to be on break right now because I will be on holidays for the next 3-4 months straight :D Ah it's really exciting to have this long break again and now that I know how fast those months can go by (had a similar break like this for the first time starting last year), I am bound to make the most of each and everyday. Today marks the first day of being stress-free and exam-less *dances*

It's great to be blogging again after a couple of weeks and you're all probably sick of coming to my page seeing my previous post being the latest post (back in Halloween lol). Now I'll be able to blog more often instead of the usual once a week. Give it time but I reckon I can do twice a week, maybe even three times a week. We shall see!

As I was saying on Twitter today, I usually have exciting news to follow on from a comeback post. Last time I had a hair colour change. Last year I had news about giveaways. This time though..... nothing :( Sadly nothing exciting has happened to me within the last couple of weeks. Studying for exams is definitely not exciting! Of course I am excited about being back and all but what's in it for you guys, hmm? There could potentially be giveaway but only until I reach my next milestone *hint, probably not anytime soon*

Sorry I don't even have an updated picture of myself to post here! Instead I am going to use a picture that I took about a week before my hiatus:

Can you guess who those pretty ladies on my wall are?

The girls with the power of 9 - SNSD aka Girls' Generation! So yeah, I purchased my first ever poster and it happens to be a K-pop poster.... of my favourite K-pop girl group. Everytime I mention them here or on Twitter I feel like a bunch of haters are going to bash on me for liking them and stuff :( I don't know why they are so many antis, these girls are awesome!
And I totally hate myself for not seeing them perform at Sydney's K-pop Music Festival on Saturday night

Oh and you're probably wondering why I'm wearing so much eye makeup. I wasn't going anywhere, just um playing around with my eyeshadow palettes and eyeliner.

iPod camera totally washed out the vibrancy but it was a blue-green gradient
I haven't done makeup looks and tutorials in ages, should I do them again?

Do you like my Hello Kitty cover? I know someone who would. Suzy from the group MissA has the same cover design as me!! I swear I bought mine before knowing that she has the same and before seeing her picture of it here:

Lol! *fangirl moment*

Never have I seen a celebrity with something the same as me, wow. And I purchased my cover on eBay... so does that mean Suzy buys from eBay too? Hahaha, who knows. Again I totally hate myself for not seeing Suzy and MissA in Sydney on Saturday night, fml.

The only exciting thing I could do a blog post on where I lack photos would be tag questions. I've been tagged quite a few times yet I never had the chance to do the tags and answer them! Here are two that I have been tagged in:

This award was given to me by Nancy of Ms Nancy's Fancies!

So for this award/tag I have to list 7 random things about me and answer some questions.

Share seven random things about yourself:

1. I can't stand having overly dry hands. I always need hand cream. If I don't have hand cream with me, I would have the urge to wash my hands just to make them moist, even though they are already clean.

2. My face and skin are better off without the use of cleansers, toners etc. I experimented with this when I didn't use anything for a couple of weeks and my face was baby-skin smooth and clear. It still is.

3. I have forehead wrinkles when I raise my eyebrows. I have noticed this since I was young and had always thought it was normal until my boyfriend pointed it out to me. This is why I believe I should always have a side fringe and never have my forehead showing.

4. I am fascinated by piercings, but only on the ears. I would get conch/tragus/rook piercings but I am too afraid to pierce through cartilage. And you know what? My most viewed post of 3000+ views is my post about my new lobe piercing

5. I would consider getting non-surgical rhinoplasty in the future when I know a certified place in my city to get it done and when I have the money.

6. I want K-pop to be more involved in my life than it already is. If my uni offered Korean classes, I would take them. If I could host a K-pop radio show, I would do it. If I could travel to South Korea, I would go there. But with that said I am by no means, a wannabe. The singers and groups are my idols and I hope to see them in concert one day.

7. I think I have good fashion sense but my wardrobe doesn't fully consist of really pretty pieces because those are always so pricey... and I rarely spend heaps on clothes. Now you know why I rarely do outfit posts and would rather do fashion posts about online shops and their gorgeous designs.

Answer the following questions:

Favourite colour: Pink

Favourite song: At the moment I'm loving 'Cry Cry' by T-ara, both the normal and ballad version. However it feels really bias to say that because I mention those girls so much on my blog :/ But I really do like their latest song, way more than their last few releases! Without seeming bias though, my other favourite song right now is 'Bad' by Tablo feat. Jinsil.

Favourite dessert: No favourite, I like cake/ice creams

What is pissing you off: My fringe which desperately needs a cut. It's long enough to cover my eyes but not long enough to tuck behind my ear. FUUUU so annoying. I'll probably get it cut soon....

When you're upset, you: Listen to music

Your favourite pet: My baby cat Coco

Black or white: White

Biggest fear: Death. I'm scared to lose the ones I love ='[ Next biggest fear would be spiders

Best feature: My non-fussiness. I hardly ever complain and I am always grateful and thankful for all the good in my life (sounds cheesy, I know)

Everyday attitude: Start each day being positive and see where it gets you

What is perfection: Definitely not me

Guilty pleasure: Indulging in sweets and savouries a bit too often :3

Okay now to a q&a that i was recently tagged by Gerry! Thanks lovely ^_^

11 questions tag game

1. What is your full name and how old are you?
My full name is Jennifer (I’ll leave out my surname) and I am 18 and a half years old. I’d be happy to stay 18 for the rest of my life (only bad thing would be the no pay rise ;/).

2. What are your hobbies?
Blogging, watching dramas/music shows, singing, listening to music, makeup lol... yes makeup is a hobby. There's more I think but meh.

3. What's your style like? Who/what inspires you?
I like the chic, elegant look but mostly I’m girly. I love florals, lace and bows. Nothing and no one inspires me.

4. Best fashion/beauty tip?
Mm I’m not much of a fashionista so I’ll give a beauty tip instead – use a lash comb after applying mascara. People get put off by using a mascara that clumps but that problem can easily be fixed with combing your lashes :) Then you'll always have clump-free lashes!

5. One thing that you cannot live without? And I don't mean air, food or your boyfriend!
Haha I would have said all of the above! But since I can’t I’ll say that I can’t live without water. Not only is water essential for well... everything and everyone but I am an absolute ‘water hog’ (I got the name from Tezza, we’re both the same lol). Water bottle is with me everywhere I go. If I don’t have water with me I will feel worried because I hate feeling thirsty. I always have a water bottle in my room and bag. I can't see how people can dislike drinking water, it's so healthy, 0 calories and quenches thirst!

6. Celebrity crush? Why?
Ooh! I haven’t spoken about a celebrity crush in ages *blushes* I think the last time I answered a question like this was back in primary school in those quizzes from those girly magazines like Total Girl xD Even at this age of 18, I’m sort of blushing when I admit that I do have celebrity crush/es. And guess what? They’re all K-pop idols... lol. I’ve had like 3-4 in the past 3 years of being into K-pop lmao, equates to about one a year! Now my top two male biases are Jonghyun from SHINee (I’m still so devastated about missing out on seeing him and the others in Sydney last Saturday... FML) and Donghae from Super Junior, ahaha (glad Suju didn’t come to Australia too last weekend or else I would’ve cried a river). And why you ask? Because I love their personalities as well as their looks. I won’t say more just in case I start fangirling *cough* I’ve tried to start admiring younger, new male idols and groups but some the members turn out to be a couple of years younger than me... and I just can’t have a crush on someone younger than me! Someone who has less life experience than me :S

7. Favorite body feature(s)? Why?
Yes I have to make another K-pop reference. Just want to put it out there that I love Secret and SNSD. Both groups have girls with gorgeous bodies and I like them for different reasons. SNSD as you may know have amazing, slender figures which motivates me to perhaps work out to tone up my body here and there (probably won’t happen but oh well). And Secret make curves look sexy! Honey thighs ftw :D So my favourite body features would be... height and eyes. Height because I reckon I’m average as I have the same amount of taller and shorter friends. My eyes because I like the way they look when I wear eye makeup.

8. If you could be any animal, which animal would you pick and why? It can be a mystical animal.
Not that familiar with mystical animals so I’ll go with an animal that I have at home – a cat of course! They’re so cute, fluffy but can be fierce with their meows (or ‘reows’) and sharp claws and teeth. I love how clean they are always so curious – just like me ^^

9. Most embarrassing/scariest thing that happened to you?
With these things, they are my suppressed memories which I tend to bury and never want to think about ever again. So I’ve probably had a tonne of each but cannot remember them all. Not sure about the 'most' but scary would be when I had tonsilitis. It was the most sick that I had ever been and I was on a drip and needed to visit the hospital for a while.

10. Biggest regret? Please don't say, "I don't regret anything because it made me who I am today".
It would be not going to the K-pop festival........................ nah I wouldn’t really call that a regret since I didn’t choose not to go.... I just wasn’t allowed because I had exams. A more serious regret would be about school. My studious ways have made me feel regretful =/

11. In five words, how would you describe yourself?
Kind, smiley, mature, brave and persistent. I never know what to say for questions like these. I'd prefer someone else to tell me what I'm like!

Done! I know I'm supposed to tag people after but I hate leaving people out and then sometimes the people I tag have already answered so I'll be lazy and a rule breaker by taggine YOU reading this right now. Yes I'm talking to you gorgeous ;P Feel free to do this tag, any of the two I've done above.

I hope you've learnt more about me and that you found it interesting. If there are any specific questions that you'd like me to answer, you can leave them in my Formspring

Apologies again for the lack of pictures. I'll blog again very soon with plenty of pictures, I promise :)

The Lipstick Tag

Ah hello all! I'm finally on uni holidays so I get two weeks break as of now :D The last 7 weeks have been the most hectic weeks of my life, I already feel drained from uni and it hasn't even been half the year yet T^T But good news is that I will seriously be making the most of the holidays, either by studying, relaxing, going out - they'll all be rewarding x] Oh and also blogging, can't forget that! There will be more posts during the next couple of weeks ^.^

I was tagged by 'Death By Dizziness' (sorry I don't know your name!) to do the 'lipstick tag'. It looked quite interesting so I thought I'd give it a go and answer the questions about lipsticks.

But before I start, here is my lipstick collection and how I store it:

Pretty much all drugstore-brands, good enough for me ^^" To me, my collection of lipsticks isn't that big. 4 of them are lip balms which I just store there to fill up space haha.

1. When you were a child, did you use your mother’s lipsticks?
Yeah I did! But her lipsticks all had that strong lipstick scent (I don’t know if anyone knows what I’m talking about) so I didn’t like it much. Also, it was hard for me to remove and whenever I’d secretly went to her room and applied some on, she’d always catch me having it on xD She'd be like :O 'why did you use my lipstick rahrahrah' lol!

2. How old were you when you bought  your first lipstick?

I only started getting into lipsticks in early 2010 haha. As I mentioned before, I used to think that all lipsticks had that strong scent so I had no interest in them until I actually started swatching them instores. I was heavily influenced by many Youtube gurus and beauty bloggers who would use lipsticks :) So I was 16 when I bought my first lipstick, before I turned 17 last year.

3. Pink or red lipstick?
Definitely pink, I love pink lipsticks, they're so wearable both day and night. Red is hard to pull off and I only own one red lipstick which I only bought by accident and didn’t bother refunding or exchanging. I don't regret purchasing the red lipstick though because it was on sale and I guess I could use it in a makeup look or something.

4. The most expensive lipstick you have ever bought?
I’ve always purchased lipsticks when they’re on sale so mine are all under $20 :P But in terms of RRP, the most expensive one I have is Revlon -__- and that's a drugstore brand!

5. And the cheapest?
Again, when there was a sale =) I got two Maybelline lipsticks from Priceline for $2 each and they’re really good quality and I like them a lot.

6. What’s the most bizarre thing you have done with lipstick?
Wrote with it on paper (used one of my mum’s old lipsticks) and once I put some lipstick on my lips and 'kissed' a piece of paper to create a lipstick print x]

7. If you had to recommend a lipstick, which brand would you recommend and why?
Oh definitely the Revlon range, they’re really good quality! Even though they’re considered to be the most ‘expensive’ among the other drugstore-branded lipsticks, they’re so worth it. Great if you can catch them when they’re on sale. The '2 for 1' deals are the best, a.k.a buy 1 get 1 free.

I would tag a whole heap of people to do this but I don't know many who use lipsticks or purchases them so I'm only going to be tagging three people who I'm pretty sure are lipstick users/wearers.

I tag you Lene! Mostly because you often tag me in your blog posts (thanks) and I love seeing your posts with lipstick swatches. I'd love to read your answers to the above questions (:

Woman, you haven't blogged in a while D: And I know you're a fan of lippies hehe

I know you're into makeup so I hope you can do this tag =)

+ I tag anyone else who is interested in doing the tag. If anyone does decide to do, let me know and share me your answers :D

The above picture of my lipsticks is quite misleading because I actually have some more lipsticks to add to the collection, which I just got recently!

Okay I haven't announced this on my blog yet but I did a while ago on Twitter (a good reason to follow me there - to know some 'breaking' news before knowing about it through my blog). I announced that my makeup-purchasing ban has now officially ended. For a bit over 3 months I went without purchasing a single makeup product. I resisted the massive sales, especially around the Christmas/new year period which wasn't easy!! I honestly didn't think that I would be able to last a month let alone 3 months so I'm quite proud of that :)

I have a lot of hauling to do but in the meantime, here's a preview of my lip products that I bought:

I finally got my hands on some NYX lipsticks and lipglosses *__*
Excuse the low quality - iPod touch camera pictures go grainy in low light conditions :(

So yeah, that's all. I have some more tag posts to do and the reason why I've decided to delay these tag posts  until my holidays is because I didn't want them to be my once-a-week posts which I have been doing since uni has started.

Since I've got more time free now, what sort of posts do you guys want to see?

I've got quite a lot on my list of things to blog about but I have no idea what you guys would be interested in. Reviews? Hauls? Tutorials? Makeup inspired looks? Something random? Please let me know below ^_^

I was thinking of doing a lipstick review/swatches of my collection... hmmm!

The Handwriting Tag

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. I thought I'd do a quick blog post before I go to bed. It's been a long day for me and I'm going to have a big week coming up, full of uni-related matters and whatnot. Just two more weeks of uni until the holiday break! I cannot wait, I'll have more time to myself and possibly commence working again ^,^ Oh, and more time for blog posts~

But anyway, a while ago I was tagged by Elisa and Marie to do the 'handwriting tag'. Here are the rules to the tag:

1. What's your name/your blogger name?
2. What's your blog's name/URL?
3. Write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
4. Favorite quote?
5. Your Favorite song?
6. Your favorite band/singers?
7. Anything else you want to say?
8. Tag three to five other people.

Let me warn you all now - I have ugly handwriting T.T It can be neat but it requires a whole heap of effort to make it nice, neat and straight! I'm also not that coordinated drawing which really sucks because I wish I could draw pretty pictures. I just wrote down my answers without attempting to be neat or anything, it was my normal handwriting which lacks consistency. As much as I love handwriting letters/notes etc, I prefer to type things. Now to reveal my not-so-nice handwriting...

Ta-da

Can you read it properly? I took a photo of it instead of scanning because I couldn't be bothered scanning ._. I hope it's still easily readable. There's a little message from me for everyone at the bottom hehe.

In case you missed it, I have tagged three people to do the handwriting tag - Lene, Min and Tam. Apologies if you have done the tag before, I've lost track.

That's basically all to the tag, feel free to do this tag too :) I'd like to read your answers and also see your handwriting, because I really am curious.

As bloggers, we don't handwrite our posts and it makes me wonder whether handwriting posts could potentially be better than typing, I know it's pretty silly to think about this because blogging = online = typing lol, so there isn't that much of a choice. Well, I like the fact that we can type our blog posts because for me it's so much faster than writing and the backspace button comes in handy - so much better than an eraser or whiteout! And I like to be able to choose the fonts that I use instead of having my own handwriting displayed. Size is editable as well as its format of being in bold, underlined, italicised or striked-out.

If you think about it in another way, handwriting blog posts would be so much more unique and interesting to read, don't you agree? Our handwriting would give us all an identity because even though there are similar handwritings, no two are exactly the same. Another good thing would be that people won't be able to copy and paste any writing on your blog post but if they do, it would be dead obvious if someone's blog post was full of posts with different handwriting haha, busted!

That's just my two cents on handwriting and blogging. A bit off-topic from the tag but I just wanted to have some input about my thought on handwriting versus typing. Typing out blog posts is the clear winner. Imagine hand-writing all of your blog posts and then scanning it to upload here *cries* sounds like unnecessary hard work. If you'd like to do that then go for it :D It could be a challenge for a month or so, hand-writing all blog posts! I'm so not up to that; are you? ;]

One of the main reasons why my handwriting changes so often is because I have two ways of holding my pen/pencil when I write. When one gets tiring or uncomfortable, I switch to the other so sometimes halfway through my work my handwriting would slightly change x] Not a dramatic change of course, just a bit noticeable I suppose.

Here, I'll show you my two ways of holding a pen:

Style #1
This is known as the 'c-shape'

I think this is the proper(?) way of holding a pen. My teacher from when I was much younger told the class to hold it like this so I assume it's the correct way. When I write like this it's the most neat but slow. I rarely get tired/sore hands or fingers when I write in this way which I'm happy with.

Style #2
This doesn't have a particular name but to me it has a tighter grip compared to the above one

When I need to jot things down really fast, I hold my pen like that because it gives me more control than the first one. You'd often see me writing things this my pen held like that because it's fairly comfortable. Unfortunately holding my pen and writing in this position for a while gets very tiring and sore for my hand and fingers which is a real shame. If it didn't then this would be the perfect pen-holding position in my opinion.

Thanks once again to Elisa and Marie for tagging me (: You can check out their handwriting here and here (scroll down a bit) - their handwriting is super pretty and neat *envies*

I hope you found this post interesting. My answers to the tag questions were written with the second way of holding my pen.

A questjen for you...

When you write, how do you hold your pen?

Are you like me with two ways of holding a pen, or is one of the ways above your only way of holding a pen? Do you have a completely different way of holding yours? I really want to know because as bloggers and readers, we don't often get to see each others' handwriting unless we send handwritten letters AND I have no idea how you guys write at all!!

7 Beauty Characteristics Tag

Lene from everythingism.net has tagged me to state 7 of my beauty characteristics and it is believed to have a Dutch meaning behind it. The literal meaning is '7 beauties' and according to the Dutch apparently, there are seven specific beauty characteristics that is considered to be beautiful that a person can have:

1. Light coloured eyes with dark hair or dark coloured eyes with light hair
2. Long, curled eye lashes
3. Beauty mark above the lips, left or right
4. A gap between the teeth
5. Freckles
6. Dimples in cheeks
7. Almond-shaped eyes

The tag is not specific about the known beauty characteristics, but is made to focus on your own beauty characteristics.

This is just something I've added in - analysing the 7 beauty characteristics and applying them to myself, seeing whether I have those characteristics or not.

Only numbers 4, 6 and 7 apply to me. Well I'm not too sure about number 7 but number 4, yes I do have a gap between my two front teeth, but it is not that visible and is not that large. Any larger I would feel extremely insecure about myself! But my current gap between my teeth is not something that I find 'beautiful' about myself and I would like to get it fixed one day. In fact, I want my teeth to be perfectly straight one day :)

I have one very noticeable dimple on my left cheek and a less noticeable but still visable dimple on my right cheek. I've always believed that I have dimples because I have chubby/flabby cheeks. I don't know whether I'm right about that or not but I do wish that my cheeks were slimmer and less chubby. I just wish I had a slimmer and narrower face altogether!

Do I have almond-shaped eyes? I really don't know. I don't take notice of the shape of almonds enough to realise whether or not my eyes have the same shape o_o

Credits: Claire Light

Here are my 7 characteristics which I admire about myself:

Last day of high school group hugs ^_^

1. Height
I'm average compared to other girls around my age, but considered tall for an Asian. Other Asian girls who are much taller than me are just giants xD Haha, I'm kidding. I do wish I were a little bit taller but I'm happy with my height of around 165cm (5"4). Around non-Asians I'm not that tall but I'm still easily seen lol.

From my Boxing Day Haul post

2. Feet
People might say that I have small feet but I like them, and some have complimented them haha. I'm a size 6.5-7 AUS/UK which is about 37. I can usually find shoes on sale that are in my size and speaking of which, I recently bought 2 new pairs of heels for bargain prices. Both were the last pair in my size! So lucky hehe.

3. Eyes
I'm happy with the shape of my eyes and their width makes inserting lenses quite easy.

OOTD - Friend's 18th Party
Top: Portmans ($30), Shorts: Cotton On ($5)

4. Figure
I'm not petite, nor am I extremely slender but I have a figure that I am pleased with. I'm not particularly proud to say this but I don't exercise :S I want to though, so I can tone certain areas however I'm not that motivated to because to me, my figure is fine :)

Most recent photo of me :)

5. Skin
I have naturally lightly-tanned skin which is a downside for going out in summer when I try to avoid getting more tanned, but in a way it's a bonus so I don't worry about looking too pale in my shorts and singlets. In winter I stay the same shade.

6. Lips
They're not too small and not too big :] I like the natural colour of them.

After dying my hair last month

7. Hair
I sort of have a love-hate relationship with my hair and I barely get compliments about it so it's not something that I really admire about myself. It gets the occasional kink and knot but I do like how it's smooth, naturally straight, low-maintenance and is easy to dye without damage/frizzing.

Thanks for tagging me Lene, I enjoyed doing this. After stating 7 of my own beauty characteristics I now have to tag 7 other bloggers to do this tag:

& whoever else would like to do this tag ^.^

Can you easily name 7 characteristics about yourself that you find 'beautiful'?

Smile to the World Tag

“This tag is not just a tag, it’s a special tag. It means that you smile to the world, that you want to spread a little piece of happiness. You smile to the bloggers you tag, and all the readers of your blog. Post a picture of yourself, a picture where you smile, a picture where you glow of joy.”

I was tagged by the gorgeous Lene (thanks girl!) and so I've decided to go ahead post a picture of me smiling and spreading my happiness to you all :D

It was hard to find one picture that stood out from all of my other photos because I'm actually a very smiley girl, I smile a lot! But I did manage to find one of me where I looked more happy than my other photos...

A year ago, January 2010 - I'm so tanned from the summer and I had shorter hair

I can't remember who took this photo but it was last year at my friend's birthday party. We were hitting the pinata blindfolded and it was so funny seeing people attempt to hit the pinata haha. It was a fun and funny day and every time I look at this photo, it makes me smile. Hopefully seeing this photo of me has made you smile too, I look so happy here haha.

None of us in the photo knew that someone was taking this photo so we didn't have one of those typical 'fake' photo smiles - instead these are our genuine laughing faces :) I really don't think that I look nice in this photo (I think I look funny when I laugh!) but to me this clearly shows that smiling is one of the simple things that makes someone beautiful. Everyone can be beautiful if they just smile =] Don't forget to take your smile with you, wherever you go (someone might just fall in love with it) ;D

One of my friends ended up taking the pinata to the floor and we could no longer hang it up so we resorted to hitting it on the ground. So here's a photo of my when it was my turn to hit:

I'm no where near it!!

That's it for this tag, I hope some of you decide to post a picture or two of yourself smiling and showing pure happiness =] There wouldn't have been another reason for me to post these photos up so thank you Lene for tagging me - now everyone can see what I look like when I'm genuinely happy and laughing!

To other news, I know I said I'd be hosting another giveaway this week but I've decided to delay it a bit. Not sure if many of you are aware of this but there are lots of giveaways happening at the moment on Blogger! I've never seen so many wonderful giveaways commencing in the same week. So I'm going to wait a while and then open my giveaway. Maybe late next week it'll be open. Sorry about that, hope you all understand

What's happening in Queensland at the moment is so sad =[ I feel lucky yet I also feel so sympathetic to those who are suffering in the floods. The fact that no one can do anything to stop the floods breaks my heart. Mother nature!

This week has been pretty full so I guess that explains my days of not posting. Recap of my week, even though it's all on my Twitter:

Monday = Bought my blog domain :) I waited for it to 'settle in' and for Google to make the switch

Tuesday = We didn't do anything for this but I might as well acknowledge that it was me and my boyfriend's 31 months anniversary. We'll be spending time together next week =]

Wednesday = Got my first Dolly Wink lashes in the mail ^^ I was definitely looking forward to receiving them! Also, there was a K-pop concert on this day in Sydney and I wasn't able to attend it =( I was pretty devastated because this was the first time a Korean boy group has come to Australia to perform and I really wanted to see them! I had no ticket and so I wasn't able to fly to Sydney. Oh well, hopefully they come back again, and also other K-pop stars!

Thursday = University offers were released and thankfully I was accepted! It's official, I'm going to uni this year. I start in late February/early March and I'm really looking forward to meeting new people in my course. I got another Dolly Wink item in the mail - the black liquid eyeliner :D

Friday = Got another Dolly Wink item - another set of false eyelashes! I was so happy getting all three of my items each day in a row. That has never happened before haha ^_^ I was very happy. I also got a letter about my uni offer :)

So that's been my week starting from Monday I've been relaxing at home and sleeping in 'til the late morning. I have a pretty screwed sleeping pattern but oh well x]

I have plenty of things I want to blog about next week! I'm going to do a Dolly Wink Haul and Review! Here's a sneak peak of what I'll be hauling and reviewing in a blog post next week:

Has anyone tried Dolly Wink items before? Let me know what you think of them!

Tag - 2010 Ups and Downs

Hellooooooo! Today is the last day for 2010 and I've got something to blog about :D I was tagged by the lovely Elisa to talk about my ups and downs of 2010. She's tagged me many times this year so a big thanks to her :)

So basically I have to list my ups and downs of 2010 and tag others. But since this is my last post for the year, I am tagging ALL of you! I don't want to leave people out and not everyone I tag usually does these so it's for everyone :)

I like to knock out the negatives out first, just like how I prefer to share the bad news before the good news, you know? So yeah, I'm going to share the downs before the ups of 2010. Here it goes *deep breath*

Oh and sorry for the lack of pictures :/ I would have done this as a vlog but you'll see why it would be really uncomfortable for me to talk about some stuff...

DOWNS OF 2010

1. My Grandpa passing away

I didn’t have a blog back when this happen so I didn’t share this news. I tweeted about it and friends supported me and were sorry for my loss which was really comforting. This happened in March 11 2010 and it did take time for it to sink in. He passed away in the early morning and I believe it was a Thursday. I had school and a test on this day, yet I didn’t break the news to anyone at school. I kept it to myself for the day and I did feel that I struggled with my Psychology test. Nonetheless, I didn’t fail it and I remained strong for the whole day. What really got to me the most was that I saw my grandpa the day before his passing. He was very sick and me and my mum visited him after I finished school. I thought he’d still have a few days left to survive so when my mum told me that we were going to go visit him, I actually complained to my mum that I had a test the next day and I needed to study for it. I can't believe I actually opposed the idea of going to visit him. It was like I didn’t want to see him or have my mum see him for the last time, and I wasn’t aware that it would be her last time. You can imagine how horrible I would have felt the next day, after hearing the devastated news. I have a fear of death and this was the first time ever that someone close to me has passed away. It wasn’t the best timing in my opinion. 11th of each month is my anniversary day and now I’m always going to remember it also as the day that my grandpa passed away. A happy yet sad date of the month. Also not that good timing because it was near the start of the year and I was just getting into what it was like being a year 12 student and also, his death was just a few days before his 93rd birthday. His death affected me for a while and I didn’t know how to cope with it, especially because I also had school pressure piled on top of it. I’m just glad that school teachers understood and was able to get extensions and postponed tests for a while. I even cried at school the day after the funeral because it was too emotional. The sympathy from my friends and the hugs from my teachers made me cry even more. I managed to get through it and be okay but I can’t imagine how my mum felt and how she grieved. I still miss him.

2. Being sick

I felt sick a few times this year, probably due to my lack of sleep and poor health. Stressed out of my mind and staying up too late doing assignments or studying for tests. My sleeping pattern was out of whack, especially when the weekends came around. I got a horrible cramp earlier this year which caused me to clutch my stomach in agony. There’s only one thing to blame when I get stomach cramps T_T Sucks to be a girl sometimes! But it was really painful, so painful that I struggled to get up and walk. I could barely get ready for school this day so I stayed home in the morning and went to the doctor. Doctor prescribed me with some pills and after taking them, my stomach cramp went away and I proceeded to going to school, missing out on the morning lesson. I was afraid I was going to experience the excruciating pain of the cramp again during the day but luckily I didn’t and I haven’t since. There have also been other times where I was sick this year but not sick enough to have days off. Minor coughs and flu symptoms, and a blood nose one morning that took forever to stop! Ended up missing school because of it.

3. Feeling down about school + pressure

I am definitely not a straight A student and there were times where I felt so down about my marks. It was hard to handle the pressure and knowing about the impact this year had on my future really worried me. Year 12 overall wasn’t as bad as I had imagined but I did lack motivation at times and hated waking up early each morning for school. There were also times where I felt like giving up but in the end, I never gave up once. I do however have a lot of tips for people who will be completing their final year of school. One of them is – don’t procrastinate! It will bite you in the butt and you’ll feel regret. I had poor organisation skills and I never stuck by my home timetable because I’d either be bored, tired or hungry to complete all my homework. Year 12 is not the only year to achieve everything, you can achieve something the year after and your life doesn’t depend on it.

Okay now that all the downs of 2010 are out of the way, I can talk about all the positive things ^_^

UPS OF 2010

1. Discovering my passion for makeup

I am really glad that I discovered this passion and I want to say a big thank you to the many beauty gurus on YouTube who have inspired me to use makeup =] Oh and also to all the beauty bloggers out there, I am amazed by the talent! I’ve always liked makeup but this time last year, I would have no idea how to apply eyeshadow to create dual tones, how to apply blush correctly or wing out my eyeliner. I’ve learnt so much from the internet and discovering my passion for makeup has definitely been an ‘up’ for me this year. My big makeup achievement was applying my own makeup for my formal and graduation. Earlier this year I was actually thinking of getting someone to do mine for me! So glad I didn’t hehe. I even did a school assignment based on beauty and I did really well for it :)

2. Formal

Formal a.k.a prom was such a memorable night! I loved every moment of it and I was really glad that my boyfriend accompanied me :) He was the only guy on my table because none of my friends brought dates but he was okay with it. It was such a lovely night and everyone looked gorgeous.

3. Getting my Provisional License

I don’t know how the driver’s licensing rules work for other countries but in Australia we have Learner’s permit and P1 and P2. This year in May, a week before I turned 17, I passed my P1 test and now I have a Provisional license, meaning that I no longer need to drive with someone like an instructor or parent. I can drive on my own, but I still haven’t yet! I am yet to drive on my own haha. I had to complete all the driving hours and the lessons and it took me a bit more than 6 months but I was happy to finally finish it all when I was still 16 :D

4. Karaoke for my 17th

This actually was my first birthday celebration with friends. I never had celebrated my birthday with friends before, nor have I ever had a birthday party (I still haven’t had one). It was always with my family. Many of you probably don’t know one of my other passions because I haven’t really shared it on my blog before (maybe once) but it’s my passion for singing. I love to sing and I know I don’t have the best voice or anything but singing makes me happy :) I don’t think I’d ever sing for you guys in a vlog, too shy to at the moment! But yeah, I went to a Korean karaoke place with my friends and it was really fun. I love Korean pop music and even though I don’t know how to speak Korean or understand any of it, I could still sing a long and have a great time x)

5. Blogging 2010

I got back into blogging again in around May 2010 and I must say, it has definitely put a new spin on my life. I had a previous blog but it was a personal blog and was just about me, my life and events with very few pictures and lots and lots of writing. How boring, and I only had a few followers who were my school friends and I would get the odd comment once or twice in a post, but I had more posts with none. I didn’t follow many blogs and it was just so boring. Although back then I kind of did enjoy blogging, the enjoyment back then was nothing near the enjoyment that I get from blogging these days. This year I started a new URL, changed my layout and my purpose for blogging. I was able to discover new blogs and follow them as well as having them follow me, which has always been something that I’ve been very grateful for. Knowing so many of you and making so many lovely blog friends from all different parts of the world – my life would be so different if I wasn’t part of this blogging community. Thank you each and every one of you for making my blogging experience this year so enjoyable!

6. Winning a giveaway

My first few months of blogging this year, I discovered blog giveaways and all sorts of things that I didn't discover before when I had a personal blog. It was great seeing how generous bloggers were with their giveaways so I was curious and decided to enter some. I ended up winning one massive prize from Jahnice who I found out about through her giveaway! Pretty amazing. I was so honoured to win and it was a definite 'up' in 2010. Seeing how generous fellow bloggers were inspired me to start hosting my own giveaways when I reached a milestone of followers. Reaching 100 was such a shock to me because I didn't think it would be possible for me, in jsut a matter of months. I'm still in awe of how many I have now and I thank you all for following and participating in my two previous giveaways!

7. Graduating High School

It felt great to graduate from high school and I loved the graduation night. I love how I no longer need to worry about wearing a school uniform ever again. I managed to pass all of my subjects (having a 50% end of year exam weighting did worry me a lot) and achieve a score that allows me to get into various university courses which I’m interested in :) I know I could have done better but I honestly wouldn’t have wanted to have it any other way. If I had been extremely studious this year then I would know none of you, since I’d be more focused on school and not start a blog lol. It all balanced out and in the end and I should be really proud of what I’ve achieved this year alone, on my blog and in school.

8. Getting a pet kitten

Now that I am on my 3-month holiday break (university won’t be starting until March), I have lots of free time on my hands so I decided to get a pet kitten :) I used to have a ginger and white cat which I had for a few years. He never came home and it’s been about 8 years since. Now I have a black and white kitten named Coco and he’s quite naughty and feisty, but I can’t blame him for being so playful and young with lots of energy. He has the most adorable little meows. I sneeze from time to time because I have a small allergy to him/his fur but that doesn’t stop me from caring for him and being the best kitten owner I can be. I never had allergies with my old cat but maybe since he left, my body got used to not having kitten fur around and stuff happened *shrugs* I dislike sneezing and feeling hayfever-ish after being with Coco but one day I hope he realises that I’ve sacrificed my well-being for him :) He’s too cute to abandon!

So now that I look back, I've had more up than downs in 2010 =] If I had more downs I would be quite depressed lol :/ But yeah, so glad for all the highs of 2010 and a year can't go by without having a few downs because a year can't be 100% perfect. I believe that everything happens for a reason, good or bad. We just accept what we're given. We can't always prevent something from happening.

Let's all be thankful for 2011 - a clean slate for us all! I hope that we all have a great start and enjoy the first day of the year tomorrow. Good luck to everyone with their new year's resolutions! Just know that we can make changes any time of the year, not just at the start :)

Thanks for everything this year guys, especially the amount of support I've gotten on my blog, love you all!

See you on the other side of this year ;D Happy new year's eve today
