Video FOTD: A Touch of Blush with ELES Mineral Makeup Products

Hello! I received some products from ELES Mineral Makeup to create my version of their Winter Seasonal Look 'A touch of blush'. It is suitable for both day and night and with my tutorial video, I share how easy it is to go from a daytime to evening look with the help of eyeliner. But either one can be worn anytime of the day!

It's August which means it's the last month of winter over here (summer in most parts of the world)!

This is my completed look next to the look provided by ELES:

As you can see, I was not trying to do a replication! Just my own spin on it :)

This look is soft and ethereal combining flawless skin, contoured and understated eyes and a radiant blush of the lips and cheeks

Here are the 6 key products to use to achieve this look:

Still in their shrink wrapping

I've seen a number of bloggers create this look and to be a little 'different' I suppose, I decided to add in another ELES product that I already have and reviewed. Do you remember it?

It's the ELES Liquiliner in Anisette which I reviewed [here]!
Now I'll share a photo of the Liquiliner joining the other products :)

Happy ELES family

ELES cosmetics tend to be up in the high-end price range and this is definitely noticeable not only in the quality of their products but also with their sleek packing

I did a video tutorial (more like a how-I-apply-my-makeup-with-these-products video) and I thought about doing a voice-over but unfortunately I didn't get around to doing it. Hope you'll still enjoy watching it if you choose to do so:

Yes I am wearing the same things as my last video - they were filmed on the same day
And wow there is a HD option... though it doesn't make much of a difference ^^"

Products used (in order):

Face of Australia Face Base Primer
Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation in 200 Soft Beige
Models Prefer Foundation Brush
Sigma Angled Blush Brush
Australis Eyeshadow Primer
Sigma Flat Shader Brush
Sigma Blending Brush
Shiseido Eyelash Curler
Angled Travel-sized Brush
Lash/brow Travel-sized Brush
Dolly Wink Eyebrow Pencil - Spoolie Brush

I followed the tutorial provided to me by ELES to do the look and I'm going to share the steps listed and review each ELES product that I used.

Face:

Prime: Begin the look by applying face primer to face and neck to create the smoothest possible base for foundation.

Base: Using foundation, blend onto face and neck to achieve a flawless finish.

Balance and highlight: Using a blush brush, apply Mineral Blush in Coral Sun to the high points of the cheeks to create a beautiful natural glow to the skin.

RRP: $45 AUD

This is a gorgeous blush and gives a very soft, sheer finish. I love that it is hypoallergenic as the formula is full of vitamins which protect the skin such as Vitamins A, E and C. The natural minerals in the formula allows the skin to 'breathe' and be free of chemical 'nasties'.

Eyes:

Begin by applying a wash of Mineral Eye Shadow in Sand over the entire lid, up towards the brow.

RRP: $26.90 AUD

This is my go-to eyelid colour - perfect for a neutral look! Again this product has vitamins A, E and C to condition and protect the eyelids and the shadow gently sweeps over my eyelids without creasing or fading. Prior to having this I didn't own any matte eyeshadows because shimmer has always been my thing however adding this to my eyeshadow collection has made me appreciate matte eyeshadows like never before! Love it :)

Use Powderliner Pencil in Tornado to define the top eye lash line and outer third of the lower lash line.

RRP: $43.25 AUD

I've tested many pencil eyeliner and I've got to say that I'm not the biggest fan of this one (or it could just be mine specifically). It glides on smoothly and is quite rich in colour but I found that the pigment wasn't consistent with some parts darker than others. The swatches above show how I have used this eyeliner pencil with varying degrees of pressure onto my skin. The darker strokes are from using a heavier hand.Though I must say that this pencil eyeliner lasts substantially longer than other eyeliner pencils that I've tried. If you can get over the hurdle of its inconsistency, this can be seen as a good pencil eyeliner in terms of its staying power and smooth lining without dragging or slipping.

Complete the eyes by applying a coat of Lush Mascara in Black onto the lashes.

RRP: $35.75 AUD

The hollow-fibre brush is a great size and the bristles help to lift and separate the lashes. The protein-rich formula builds in strength and flexibility. This product is also packed with Vitamin A, E and C to nourish the lashes. They made my lashes look natural without giving them a clumpy, spider-y look.

Brows are combed and defined using a shadow liner brush to apply Brow Sculpt in Brunette to create perfectly shaped arched eyebrows

RRP: $55 AUD

I love this brow duo - in my opinion it's better than having a brow kit because this is much smaller and lighter to carry around :) The powder isn't overly pigmented like some brow powders are and that's great because the colour is buildable on my brows. I don't need pigmented brow powders! It's perfect for filling in my already-quite-dark brows and the colour-coordinated brow wax tames and sets the brows without adding heaps more pigmentation.

Lips:

Create sensuously plump lips with Liquid Lustre in Tempest for intense shine and seriously sexy lips.

RRP: $37.50 AUD

A lip plumper and a lip gloss that leaves a beautiful sparkle on my lips. Typically, lip plumpers leave that stinging/tingling sensation but this one doesn't at all! This product contains Peptide Complex and what this does is gives the mouth dramatic volume and its infused diamond particles create a translucent 3D effect.

The thing I love most about this lip gloss is its applicator. I was surprised to not see the usual sponge applicator - instead it uses a brush :D

I prefer a brush over a sponge

I have some extra FOTD pictures to share, featuring my cat who was showering me with kisses.

Haha I think he was intrigued by the scent of my lip gloss ^^
 *sniff sniff*

Questjen of the week:

Which do you prefer - fragrance or fragrance-free products?

The majority of these mineral cosmetics are fragrance-free which makes them suitable for people with sensitive skin, making the products less irritable. I can use fragrance and no-fragrance products but I usually prefer fragrance-free ones because some particular scents may put me off using a product. Though most of the time I'm not fussed ^.^

  1. Love the video and the makeup look! And yay, we use the same foundation! That's actually the first time I've seen someone else use the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation. It doesn't get much recognition but it should, lasts well and looks better with wear. I personally don't really mind whether or not the products have fragrance, but then again it really depends. The fragrance ones do smells good although sometimes there's products that have an overwhelming amount of fragrance to it. x

    1. Aw thank you so much :) Oh high five!! It's a newly-purchased one from Chemist Warehouse when they had 50% off sales so I grabbed it hehe. That's great to hear as I have never seen any reviews and have only used it a couple of times.

So true! Thanks for answering my questjen xx

  5. Hmm... Fragranced or fragrance free... That's a very good question.

I think I'll go for fragranced because they always smell oh so luxurious!

Love Coral Sun, but the price can be pretty... scary. XD
